Workshops and Trainings
on Evaluation and Monitoring

IMPULSE offers Workshops and trainings on evaluation and monitoring.

Workshops and trainings

Workshops and Trainings are offered as in-house training or as seminars/workshops in (open) training programmes, during conferences ets.

Content and didactics

Both formats include both theoretical inputs and practical application in case studies, practical examples etc. The didactial concept follows the recommendations of the German-Austrian evaluation society and puts an emphasis on a hands-on approach and practical relevance.

Trainings usually cover different areas of knowledge, skills, and attitudes: theoretical knowledge, research skills, planning and management skills, interpersonal and communication skills, personal development, reflection on roles, perspectives, ethical principles and professional behaviour.

Workshops are even more oriented towards developing participants' practice and focus on working on concrete interests and projects of participants.

Examples of thematic foci for workshops can be found here

Special workshops support (potential) commissioners of evaluations in managing evaluations: from planning and budgeting, development of terms of reference, procurement and selection of evaluators, clarification of scope and expectations, involvement of stakeholders, use of results more

A range of open seminars and trainings is currently being developed.

Additionally consulting res. coaching on evaluation and monitoring is offered. It can be conducted personally in the premises of IMPULSE in Vienna or online.

Target groups

Target groups are persons/organisations that want to conduct or commission evaluations including (novice) evaluators.

A special target groups are practitioners from other occupational/professional fields (e.g. "laypersons in evaluation") who plan to act as evaluators in self-evaluation, internal evaluation or peer evaluation or want to monitor their (daily) practice.
For them tailored training is offered which focuses on basic, but sound evaluation/ data collections methods that are appropriate for the target groups.
